System Overview

The Ulthera System is an engineering achievement that has adapted time-honored medical ultrasound to address unmet needs in the aesthetic arena. With the system, physicians will have not just a new device, but a new category of cosmetic procedure with which to counter the affects of aging on the skin - Ultherapy.
Learn more about Ultherapy

The Ulthera System, with its patented DeepSEE technology, combines ultrasound imaging with ultrasound therapy in a single “see and treat” device. This ingenious combination of ultrasound capabilities allows the user to achieve a noninvasive, thermal coagulative effect in soft tissue with precision and consistency at an unprecedented depth - all with extraordinary safety.

The Ulthera System is a platform that will accommodate upgrades and future applications. It is configured with three primary components: the control unit, the handpiece, and the DeepSEE transducers.

Control unit
This is the information center for the system, which houses the touch screen with which the user interacts with the device. Its tabletop design allows it to either fit in tight spaces or be used with a cart for maximum mobility.

Handpiece
The handpiece is the receptacle for the transducers delivering the energy and contains the controls for activating the imaging and therapy states.

Multi-patient transducers
The multi-patient transducers are used for both high-resolution imaging of tissue to a depth of 8mm and for creating linear patterns of discrete thermal coagulation points. The two different transducers deliver varying amounts of energy to a prescribed depth, based on the particular region of the face to be treated.
